Vignettes: Letters from George to Evelyn from the Private Papers of a WWII Bride
Evelyn Semenza married First Lieutenant George W. Honts in San Francisco on Christmas Eve, 1942. They spent one wonderful year together before George received orders to serve in Europe. Before Christmas 1943, he departed the United States for his overseas posting, and the couple never reunited.
George and Evelyn exchanged beautiful, heartfelt letters while he was at war. Evelyn saved George's letters, which she shared with composer Alan Louis Smith, who went on to compose this poignant set.
